What is a Bosch IDS heat pump?
IDS stands for Inverter Ducted Split. A variable-speed outdoor heat pump and an indoor air handler or coil work with your existing ductwork, so you get heating and cooling without cutting in new line sets to every room.
Will it keep up in the cold?
The IDS Ultra is Bosch’s cold-climate model, built to keep heating in a New England winter. For the coldest days, IDS can also be paired with a gas furnace as a dual-fuel system.
What refrigerant does it use?
The current IDS line uses R-454B, the lower-GWP refrigerant the industry is moving to under the AIM Act.
Does it need yearly maintenance?
Yes. Change filters regularly and have the system serviced every year: coil and drain cleaning, refrigerant and electrical checks. The Total Care Club keeps it on schedule.
