What to Expect at Your Service Visit

How a 3R repair or diagnostic call works, start to finish — no surprises, no pressure.

Diagnose first, price up front, you decide. Whether it’s no heat, no hot water, a leak, or an AC that quit — every service call follows the same simple process. You’ll know what’s wrong, what it costs, and what your options are before any repair work starts.

How Your Visit Goes

1

You book — we confirm

Call (781) 974-5239 or book online. You get a confirmed appointment window, and a call or text when your technician is on the way — so you’re not waiting by the window all day.

2

Your tech arrives & listens

Uniformed, in a marked truck, with shoe covers at the door. First thing we do is listen: what’s happening, when it started, what you’ve noticed. You know your home better than anyone.

3

Diagnosis — finding the real problem

The dispatch/diagnostic fee quoted when you booked covers a real evaluation of the system, not a glance:

  • Testing to find the root cause — not just the symptom
  • A check of related components, so a second failure isn’t waiting behind the first
  • A plain-English explanation, with photos of what we found where it helps
4

Options & up-front pricing

Before anything is repaired, you see your options in writing — typically a straightforward fix, a better-value option, and (when it makes sense) what repair vs. replace looks like on older equipment. Every option is a flat, total price. No hourly meter running, no “we’ll see how it goes.”

5

You approve — we fix it

Work starts only after you pick an option and approve it. Most repairs are completed the same visit — our trucks are stocked for the common failures. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you the timeline before you commit.

6

Test, clean up, walkthrough

We run the system, verify the fix, show you what was done, and leave the work area as clean as we found it. Payment is due at completion — card, check, or financing on larger repairs. Your invoice and records land in your email.

Good to Know

The diagnostic fee, explained

  • It covers the trip and a trained technician properly evaluating your system — the most valuable 30–60 minutes of the visit
  • You get a real diagnosis and written options even if you decide not to repair
  • The fee is quoted when you book, so there’s no mystery at the door

Why flat, up-front pricing

  • The price you approve is the price you pay — if the job takes longer than expected, that’s on us, not you
  • Options are priced from a standard pricebook, so the number doesn’t depend on who shows up or what day it is
  • If we find something different once inside the repair, we stop and re-price with your approval before continuing — never after

Common Questions

No-heat, no-hot-water, and active-leak calls are prioritized — often same-day. Routine repairs are usually scheduled within a couple of days. When you call, tell us what’s happening and we’ll slot the urgency honestly.
An adult (18+) needs to be there to let us in and approve options before work starts. After approval, whether you need to stay depends on the job — your tech will tell you.
Our rule of thumb: when a repair costs a big fraction of remaining value on equipment near end of life, we’ll show you both numbers — including what rebates would do to a replacement — and let you decide. We don’t push replacement; we show you the math.
Clear access to the equipment (about 3 feet), secure pets, and note anything useful: when it started, noises, error codes, breaker trips. For leaks — shut the nearest valve or the main if it’s actively running, then call us.
Yes — repairs are backed by our workmanship guarantee, and parts carry their manufacturer warranties. Specific terms are on your invoice. If a repair we made isn’t right, we make it right.
Larger repairs and replacements can be financed through our lending partners, subject to credit approval. Ask your technician or the office and we’ll walk you through options in minutes.

The Fine Print

Scope of this page

This page describes a typical 3R Plumbing & Mechanical service visit and is provided for your convenience. It is not a contract, estimate, or warranty and does not modify the terms of any invoice, quoted option, or service agreement. If anything here differs from your signed or approved documents, those documents control.

Scheduling & pricing

Appointment availability, response times, and dispatch/diagnostic fees vary with season and demand and are confirmed when you book. Repair options and pricing are provided in writing at the visit; work proceeds only with your approval. Concealed conditions discovered during a repair may change scope and price — any change is presented for your approval before additional work is performed.

Guarantees & financing

Workmanship guarantee terms are as stated on your invoice or service agreement. Parts are covered by their manufacturers’ warranties per those manufacturers’ terms. Financing is offered through third-party lenders, is subject to credit approval, and is governed by the lender’s terms.
